What do we expect from you?

In close consultation and partnership with the commercial staff and risk analysts, you will contribute to the achievement of our client’s strategic and commercial objectives in accordance with the principles of legal and risk management, with regard to :
  • Specialised Finance & Specialised Corporate Lending projects (often in the context of syndicated loans): financing of company takeovers, export financing, maritime financing, financing of port facilities, financing of renewable energy projects and infrastructure works (in particular in the context of a public-private partnership (PPP));
  • Real Estate Finance projects: financing of real estate projects by private investors in which our client or one of its subsidiaries acts as a financial partner, developer or investor (particularly in the context of a PPP).
You are ultimately responsible for providing legal advice in these complex areas. Depending on the type of project and the role of our client in each project, you will also critically review/draft the documentation relating to these transactions (term sheets, credit agreements, security documents, project documents, due diligence reports and related documents) and negotiate to ensure the smooth running of the project while taking into account quality standards.

To this end, it is essential that you have (or are prepared to acquire) a thorough knowledge of company and corporate law, the law of obligations, rights in rem and security law.

In addition, you follow and anticipate legislative developments in the relevant areas of law in order to be able to provide correct and applicable advice, with particular attention to the risks and opportunities that arise. You follow developments in your field closely by contributing to competence centres or practice groups with a view to acquiring or sharing knowledge, by representing our client in interbank working groups and by participating in networking events.

Your profile

  • You have a master’s degree in law or a master’s degree in economics, law and business administration and you have a few years of experience and a passion for sustainable development;
  • You are fluent in French, Dutch and English, both written and spoken;
  • You are able to communicate clearly and to quickly adopt a legally sound opinion;
  • You are able to explain complex legal concepts, clauses or structures clearly to non-lawyers;
  • You have an open, critical and analytical mind;
  • You are client-oriented and flexible, pragmatic and result-oriented;
  • You are intellectually curious, you are always looking to expand your knowledge and you are ready to take on challenges;
  • You are a team player and are willing to build relationships. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and collaborating actively with your colleagues.
