Accountant

Summary

The accountant is part of the Accounting team, reporting to the Chief Accountant, which focuses on closing the US and Belgian GAAP accounts in order to provide adequate reporting to management and the shareholders. Key result areas can vary over time between the team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for the verification and the input of A/P invoices and credit notes via Medius A/P automation system
  • Verify postings by making sure all documents are posted correctly and allocated to the appropriate approver
  • Participate in month-end closing tasks such as putting together prepaid expenses, accruals, reconciliations, discrepancy analyses, etc…
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of VAT declarations for various countries
  • Prepare and execute weekly payment runs
  • Support the finance department with ad hoc tasks like optimizing existing processes or introducing new ones.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Accounting degree (Bachelor is preferable)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as (A/P) accountant
  • Understanding of analytical accounting and coding to various dimensions (cost centers, countries, etc.)
  • Excellent accounting proficiency
  • Strong interest in VAT
  • Familiarity with MS-Office, knowledge of an ERP system is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of English and Dutch
  • Team player with a customer focused mind-set.
