Purpose of the role:

The Wholesale Banking COO Business Management team drives change initiatives and business re-engineering to streamline processes, grow the business and ensure compliance with regulatory changes.

It has business ownership of HSBC group’s change projects and supports, leads and drives a range of diverse projects and initiatives which involve implementation of new systems and procedures.

COO office provides administrative and strategic support to senior management and also ensures smooth running of the branch what is main accountability of this role. This Job could be suitable for junior individual.

Principal Accountabilities of the role:

  • Improve business efficiency through the execution of key streamlining, re-engineering and cost saves initiatives.
  • Carrying all activities in Procurement and Account Payables field in Branch with the principal accountability for managing third party contracts (suppliers), purchasing of goods for branch needs and be responsible for country pipeline of savings opportunities.
  • Cover pre-contract as well as post contract activities for all internal and external contracts
  • Awareness of risk in Commodity areas and how to mitigate commercially, contractually and operationally including Corporate Social Responsibility and Banking relationships
  • Chair country offshore governance forum focusing on EBA requirements for outsourcing
  • Secure compliance with country record management requirements mainly over physical records – Records management.
  • Support of daily operation of branch
  • Ensure the delivery of sourcing projects in accordance with the Category and Commodity plans. Apply deep sourcing knowledge in the execution of these plans across all category areas whilst ensuring the risks associated with the purchase of goods and services are mitigated commercially, contractually and operationally
  • Working with internal stakeholders to develop and drive the long term commercial strategy of a general group of commodity(ies) enabling HSBC to achieve efficiency and maximum value

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of organisational planning and problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills – applicable through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations)
  • Typical qualifications would include a Bachelor’s degree / equivalent experience or the role holder will have professional qualifications in general administration.
  • Excellent track record in previous roles
  • Knowledge of French and/or Dutch
