We are currently sourcing a high calibre Head of Manufacturing to join our senior leadership team in our Odyssea pharma plant in Liège, Belgium. Reporting to the General Manager, this position has been identified as a key talent pipeline role that will be leveraged to identify future leaders for local and international career opportunities. In fact, the previous Head of Manufacturing has recently been promoted to the General Manager role onsite. As Head of Manufacturing, you will lead and develop your team to exceed the department goals and metrics (safety, quality and operational), build upon a great culture, and lead manufacturing to maximize our schedule, capacity and people potential.

At AbbVie/ Odyssea Pharma sprl, we are recognised as a centre of excellence for women’s health, offering the GMP manufacturing of the Levosert ™ hormonal intrauterine device and a quality and regulatory expertise from a dedicated site. We focus on innovative new technologies and through our high performing team; we develop and deliver products and processes to support AbbVie’s wider global needs. In this role, you will be a key member of the Senior leadership team that is responsible for delivering on our site goals and roadmap; you will lead the team that is responsible for the manufacture of the IUD’s from End to End.

Here’s a Snapshot Of Your Key Responsibilities

• Develop and grow your high performing team by leading by example and building a strong sustainable culture of teamwork and delivery
• Deliver excellent operational performance, overseeing the planning & execution of the production schedule to meet customer demands within a strong culture of compliance
• Lead and promote a culture of Safety, Excellence, Continuous Improvement, leading lean & agile manufacturing initiatives, leveraging key tools and programs
• Lead the production aspect of product quality investigations in conjunction with Quality Assurance including the assignment and management of corrective and preventative actions
• Partner with Quality to meet all product quality requirements in accordance with cGMP’s and lead key quality improvement initiatives & programs within the department such as human excellence, human error reduction, 100% audit readiness and right first time
• Execute to and deliver outstanding performance exceeding site KPI’s
• Manage relations with suppliers, negotiate contracts and prices and establish a performance measure for the most important ones
• Be responsible for the compliance with the Quality, Safety, HR and Financial procedures applicable to manufacturing.

Qualifications

So, what experience do you need for this role?

• You will have a primary degree in science (chemistry preferred), pharmacy or engineering (chemical engineering preferred). A MSc or PhD qualification is highly desirable but not compulsory.
• With 10 + years’ experience in a manufacturing role in a similar environment with extensive people management experience
• Demonstrated motivational, leadership and managerial skills
• Strong communication skills and decision-making abilities with proven ability to influence and gain consensus
• Fluency in English and French
