About The Role

The purpose of the job is to provide global understanding of the deep interactions between components of Formulation operational mastery: Process, Equipment, Automation.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and driving troubleshooting linked to computerized systems and process optimization projects related to automation.

You will act as expert in the MPU to “connect the dots” between process and Automation, in facts between MPU’s teams and BeEM Automation.

You will be accountable to ensure early detection of technical issues (trend analysis) and lead investigations by coordinating all involved departments, to ensure performance of the automated systems.

You will lead implementation of projects linked to automation field in close collaboration with BeEM teams, taking in charge the coordination of all tasks under MPU’s responsibilities.

You will be the automation SPOC for MPU Formulation.

Your Responsibilities
  • You lead and are responsible/accountable for troubleshooting diagnosis & actions (that can occur when there is production issue…) with large support (> 2 people) from outside the MPU (if required).
  • You lead projects of process optimization (yields and debottlenecking) in collaboration with Continuous Improvement, production, technical services, product and process, QA and BeEM automation teams. Size of the project is limited to the MPU or can be transversal and reporting and decisions are performed at LT member’s level.
  • You develop the expertise of the MPU on automation (in collaboration with the BioProcess Leader) demonstrating ability to coach, teach and develop.
  • You identify the needs for change across the current end-to-end process, seeking to simplify and enhance customer experience.
  • You communicate a clear vision to stakeholders, planning and prioritizing key objectives for the business.
  • You gain deep insight into business and customer needs; benchmarking GSK verses the competition.
  • You work with solutions suppliers to ensure continued performance and sustainability of the supervision and control systems (for example DeltaV); on the design equipment processes and solutions (including cleaning) to enable robust and reproducible manufacture of the product and execute new process validation.
  • You contribute to standardisation of manufacturing and analytical technologies on site and to technology transfer for respective products from R&D into Global Manufacturing & Supply and subsequent transfers to other sites.
  • You are inspection ready for technical (deviations, CAPA) and strategic subjects (plans, roadmaps)
  • You are the deputy of the BioProcess Leader, and represents the BioProcess Engineering team in LT meetings and in external events and coaches the Bioprocess Engineers
  • You develop and roll out strategical plan in collaboration with bioprocess leader

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • University Degree in Sciences/Engineering
  • Ideally, having gained 5 to 10 years of experience in Technical services, Engineering or Operations
  • Vaccines Process knowledge
  • Knowledge of Delta V, PLC/SCADA or other relevant automation technologies
  • Technical Services knowledge (Clean and Black utilities, HVAC, Isolators, Production Skids)
  • Continuous improvement capabilities (ie orange or green belt)
  • Proven project management capabilities for critical project
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards
  • Practical understanding of Technical Risk Assessment (TRA) supporting development and use of Product Control Strategies for new and mature products.
  • Product Performance Monitoring / Technical Risk Escalation and maintenance of knowledge management associated with dose/product form.
  • Influence skills and decision maker
  • Autonomous and solution driven
  • Ability to work transversally without hierarchical lever
  • Communication skills, internally in the MPU or externally (GSK network and stakeholders)
