Faites la différence pour les patientsWe are looking for a self-motivated, rigorous and communicative Biopharma Laboratory Maintenance Technician to join our Technical Lab & process Maintenance Support department, based at our laboratories in Leuven in Flemish Brabant, BelgiumAbout The RoleUCB has a gene therapy laboratory in Leuven dedicated to the research and development of cell cultures (upstream) and product purification (downstream). This laboratory also has equipment dedicated to product characterization (IPC).The technician will be in charge of technical support for laboratory equipment at our Leuven site (Flanders). This technical support will be responsible for checks, preventive and corrective maintenance on this equipment. He/she will coordinate these activities between users and suppliers.This position requires a presence on our site based in Leuven (4 days/week) to support laboratory activities. The technician will be required to travel periodically to UCB’s Braine-l’Alleud campus.Who You’ll Be Working WithYou will work closely with the laboratory scientists. You will make contact with suppliers and follow up on service requests. You will be in regular contact with your manager based in Braine-l’Alleud.What You’ll Be Doing
  • You will be responsible for Technical Coordination, which involves :
    • Ensuring technical monitoring of all laboratory equipment: preventive maintenance, corrective action and improvement.
    • Organize and manage preventive maintenance.
    • In the event of a breakdown or technical problem, make an initial diagnosis and identify the resources to be deployed (supplier call-out).
    • Coordinate interventions with suppliers and users, and support technicians from external companies.
    • Call on external suppliers to request quotations (projects, repairs, etc.) and provide technical follow-up.
    • Participate in updating technical files, drawings and equipment diagrams.
  • You ensure compliance with safety rules during technical interventions
  • You follow up technical interventions from a documentary point of view (Notification, OT, CMMS)
  • You comply with current procedures, GMP and ISO14001 rules.
  • You take part in coordination meetings
  • You participate in the continuous improvement of equipment reliability plans by proposing technical improvements.
  • Report recurring problems and suggest solutions
  • Participate in new equipment implementation projects
  • You organize the collection of technical requests from users
  • Participate in weekly and monthly technical reviews
  • Take an active part in user projects
Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following training, experience and skills
  • You have at least 5 years’ experience as a technical support technician in a laboratory.
  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is desirable but not essential
  • You are able to work in a team and independently
  • Knowledge of CMMS tools (SAP) is a plus
  • Fluency in technical English
