Europe’s MediaLab is looking for a dynamic, self-starter to assist in advocacy and communications efforts. This traineeship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of communications and policy making while working in an exciting and motivating work environment. Trainee will work closely with Senior Communications & Project Manager in a variety of tasks mostly focused on expanding the reach of MediaLab’s communication activities through targeted stakeholder engagement and EU funded projects. Trainee will work closely with the other senior team members helping assist in a wide array of tasks with discretion and accuray. Furthermore, this traineeship offers a first-hand experience in the exciting newsroom of the EURACTIV Media Network.

About us

Europe’s MediaLab is a “THINK-and-DO TANK” for the health of the media sector in Europe and is an autonomous part of the EURACTIV Media Network. Through projects, events, political thinking reflection social media, and advocacy, MEDIALAB engages in two main field of activities:

THINK:

  • Advocates for media independence, media sustainability, pluralism and language diversity in Europe

DO:

  • Train and exchange for media innovations: Stars4Media EU project , exciting skill exchange opportunity for media professionals, focusing from 2022 on newsroom and business transformation.
  • Cooperate with civil society and other media events and social media to fight populism and Brexit-like situations

Job description:

  • Assisting in content planning and development for MediaLab online channels, including the website management and daily monitoring, posting, scheduling and reporting of the MediaLab’s Twitter, ensuring all the information on main channels is accurate and up to date.
  • Preparation and distribution of the MediaLab’s monthly newsletters, including collecting external contributions.
  • Design event/program fliers, graphics and other communications material
  • Supporting the senior team members in identifying partnerships and mapping commercial opportunities through creative ideas and continuous engagement with the interested parties
  • Provide input for creative communication strategies and social media campaigns
  • Manage editorial and event calendars
  • Collaborate with EURACTIV staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications
  • plus any administrative support that may be required

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field (Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Law, European Studies) and keen interest in the EU media landscape
  • Experience with all MS Office and basic knowledge of social media
  • Experience with EU Projects and other EU bodies and institutions (desirable)
  • Fully fluent in English (oral & written), good French, other languages welcome!
  • Independent and proactive, detailed and motivated
