Data Governance & Privacy within the Data department

Data Governance & Privacy within the Data departments is responsible for the policies and processes used to ensure the integrity, quality and the security of data for the entire organization of AXA Belgium. This team also ensures the implementation of the regulatory requirements governing data protection. Against this background, the team acts as an intermediary between the various cross-organisational functions (Architecture, Compliance, etc.) and all activities of the operational Business.

The team’s activities englobe the following:

• Implementing a set of processes and policies in order to ensure proper data management in observance of AXA Group standards.
• Implementing a set of processes and policies in order to ensure due compliance with regulatory obligations (e.g. GDPR)
• Working closely with the Security, Architecture, IT teams
• Working closely with and delivering support to the various Business Divisions in charge of cascading and carrying out the procedures laid down
• Ensuring the communication of relevant information to the various levels of the company’s management and governance bodies
• Ensuring the implementation of the Internal Control and Operational Risks programmes within the area of Data

In doing so, the team contributes to the implementation of AXA’s global strategy in compliance with the local policies and Group policies.

Your duties as a Data Management Leader/Senior expert

Reporting to the Chief Data Officer and the Data Governance & Privacy manager, you will strengthen the Data Governance & Privacy team with your experience and specific skills. Your duties will include:

• To define and put in place principles, policies, standards and terms of reference for the management and protection of the organisation’s data
• Act as an expert in this respect within the organisation and liaise with the other departments
• Drive forward the Data Management schemes demanded by the Group or under European and Belgian regulations (Solvency II, IFRS 17, GDPR, etc.)
• Co-ordinate the team’s activities in the field of Data Management: Data Quality, Data Lineage, Business Glossary, Data Classification, Record of Processing Activities et Data Access Management
• Co-ordinate the animation and governance with the Business through the management of the communities of Data Owners et Data Stewards
• Contribute to due compliance with Data Governance as part of the transformation and other digital programmes
• Guide and assist the Business with the proper implementation of the rules and procedures put in place
• Assist with working up the Data strategy Data in line with the Group standards and the local policies.

Qualifications:

Profile

• At least 5 years’ experience in the specialist disciplines surrounding the management of data in an operational or financial context
• A due understanding of the various legal instruments (mainly the GDPR) and their impact on data management
• The ability to conceptualise complex problems so as to arrive at concrete and pragmatic proposals and decisions
• The ability to co-ordinate complex, cross-discipline/cross-organisational topics that involve a great number of stakeholders
• Excellent French and/or Dutch and a good command of English
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills Good presentation skills, able to get to the heart of the matter and to put across the key messages
• Close affinity with the technology of and experience in the use of data management tools (e.g. reporting, ETL, data warehousing, data governance)
• Customer-centered, proactive mindset and solution-driven
• Stress-resistant and able to meet tight deadlines
