We are on the lookout for a Data Privacy specialist to support us in our next phase of growth. As a Data Privacy Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in embedding privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default throughout the organization. You will be responsible for the implementation of Secure Code Warrior’s Global Privacy Program by providing guidance to cross-functional teams across the organization on data privacy requirements and assessing and mitigating privacy risks.

You will also be instrumental in conducting Privacy Impact Assessments, crafting privacy requirements, and assisting in the creation of global corporate policies, programs, and processes to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. You will also play a key role in assisting the Legal function to co-ordinate and manage services provided to the front line Sales function globally.

This role can be 100% remote within Belgium or a hybrid role in Bruges where we have an office.

What will you be doing?

• Manage, monitor and maintain internal policies and procedures related to data privacy, including but not limited to privacy assessments, cross border transfers, and privacy by design.
• Provide expertise in data protection compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, UK Data Protection Act 2018 and other privacy regulations.
• Support the business with the implementation and on-going management of their Registers of Processing Activities (‘RoPAs’) and Privacy Data Flows.
• End to end management of Data Subject Requests (DSR’s) - Respond to data subject and third-party queries or complaints that come into the privacy team mailbox.
• Assist in managing the response to privacy incidents, under the guidance of Management and in collaboration with the Privacy Team, technology, legal, and business stakeholders, and monitor and track resulting remediation action plans.
• Identify, assess, manage and report data privacy risk issues as part of the SCW’s wider privacy risk management program, and working with stakeholder groups to address and mitigate any identified gaps.
• Work closely with SCW’s engineering team to advise on cross-border data flows, data localization, and other questions related to SCW’s global data infrastructure.
• Educate and empower business units to champion data protection principles across SCW’s product development and data management activities worldwide. Experience designing and delivering impactful training presentations is a plus.
• Monitor the industry landscape to keep visibility on evolutions, trends, and best practices related to Data Privacy.
• Ensure that systematic compliance audits are undertaken and that their findings are reported and acted upon. Maintain records of processing operations.
• Liaise with suppliers that process data on our behalf. Support our due diligence review process and ensure contractually that suppliers are meeting data protection measures to meet global standards.
• Provide assistance and input on privacy law for the review and negotiation of BAU agreements, that is Data Processing, SaaS, and Partner agreements
• Engage external counsel for specialist advice on Governing Law and Privacy Law as necessary to support SCW’s global privacy requirements
  
  

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of relevant work experience including at least 3 years in a data privacy role
• University degree related to Business, Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field
• Qualified Lawyer (preferred but not mandatory)
• Demonstrated experience building / managing a data privacy program in a global organisation.
• Expertise in global and European data protection laws and practices and an in-depth understanding of the GDPR/CCPA/UK Data Protection Act 2018. Knowledge of APAC privacy laws a plus
• Experience conducting data privacy impact assessments, compliance reviews and audits.
• Experience in tracking cross border data transfers and conducting transfer impact assessments a plus
• CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CDPSE or DPO certifications are preferred.
• Knowledge of data processing operations in the software/security industry preferred but not mandatory
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
• Highly responsive, team player and service-oriented attitude, while maintaining excellent judgement
