Your responsibilities:

• Research and develop state-of-the-art deep learning methods and leverage over 6-million heart rhythm traces to improve the detection of heart rhythm on PPG data. You will need to go beyond the regular supervised way to push the boundaries of PPG heart rhythm analysis.
• Explore the FibriCheck database to discover new insights with clinical relevance. You will perform advanced data analytics to confirm or disprove hypotheses and suspicions from healthcare experts (i.e. cardiologists). This work will ensure FibriCheck remains a frontrunner in the mobile healthcare sector.
• Cooperate with the clinical team at FibriCheck to process, analyze and visualize data acquired in clinical studies. You communicate the findings in a clear and visual manner to your colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Possibly interact with the business team and apply your data science expertise to business-related topics.

Your profile:

• A Master’s Degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, civil engineering or comparable field.
• A strong theoretical background in data science and machine learning, with a strong emphasis on statistics and deep learning.
• Expert knowledge of Python and several machine learning and visualization libraries (TensorFlow/PyTorch, NumPy, pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib, seaborn, ...).
• Knowledge of Git (or another distributed version control system).
• Knowledge of AWS (or another cloud platform).
• Knowledge of Docker (or another containerization platform) is a plus.
• A biomedical background, great interest or a willingness to learn about the mobile health industry.
• Experience with time-series data is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (Dutch and/or English).
• Positive attitude, proactive mindset and team player.
