For our compressor station of Zelzate ( see the map here ) we’re looking for an E&I Technician (m/f/x).

At a compressor station, the pressure of natural gas is increased to maintain the desired flow rate in the pipeline. The gas is compressed to ensure that it has enough energy to continue on its way to end consumers under the best possible conditions. Our compressor station in Zelzate is located at the crossroads of two key arteries in our gas network: the Zelzate-Desteldonk DN 900 pipeline (a branch of the Eynatten-Zeebrugge VTN-RTR pipeline) and the Zomergem-Kallo DN 600 pipeline. Since the end of 2008, four electrically driven centrifugal compressors have ensured the appropriate pressure on both pipelines in all four directions. It is technically possible to provide compression on both pipelines at the same time. Moreover, gas can be transferred from one pipeline to the other. In other words, exchange options are maximised. In all, there are 10 different switching options. The station thus forms a vital link between the LNG terminal at Zeebrugge and the Loenhout storage facility. It also plays a crucial role in supplying the port of Antwerp and can help support the increased supply of high-calorific natural gas via the Netherlands.

Your respon­sibilities

  • After a period of training, during which you will learn about the facilities at our Zelzate compressor station, you will, as an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, join the team responsible for day-to-day inspection and maintenance of electrics and instrumentation within the facility
  • You will perform preventive maintenance on the station’s electrical and instrumentation devices and equipment, taking into account safety aspects
  • You will analyse faults and malfunctions and make the necessary repairs
  • You will suggest process improvements and will be involved in their implementation
  • Ultimately, you may be deployed for maintenance work on IT process facilities, networks, and control-system and automation infrastructure
  • You may also occasionally fill in to support the mechanics team with carrying out mechanical works
  • In addition, you will be part of an on-call team responsible for resolving any faults and incidents to ensure continued efficient operation

About you

  • An A2 diploma or Bachelor’s degree in electricity, electronics or electromechanics, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the maintenance of technical installations, preferably in a process environment
  • Preferably some experience with PLC systems
  • Sound (technical) problem-solving skills and the ability to work well both in a team and independently
  • An eye for safe, high-quality work, during which you follow guidelines carefully and see the value of good cooperation
  • Eagerness to learn and motivation to develop yourself further
  • A good knowledge of Dutch and an adequate knowledge of English

Additionally, this role requires:
  • Willingness to work in a shift/on-call system
  • Living within 30 minutes of our Zelzate site
  • A category B driving licence
