Royal Military Academy (RMA) is the Belgian military university, in charge of the academic, military, and sportive training of the future officers of the Belgian Defence. The RMA is also conducting scientific research in Defense and security related domains.
You work on the project entitled ‘IPOINTSO’ within the department of CISS (Communication, Information, Systems and Sensors) of the RMA. The IPOINTSO is a spin-off project aimed to further develop and commercialize an innovative indoor positioning and navigation solution.
Job Description
In the framework of the IPOINTSO project, we are looking for a full-stack software developer with minimum four years recent relevant experience. The successful candidate will, in cooperation with colleagues and partners, build and manage our web platform. You will be part of the engineering team of an ambitious spin-off project. You will be performing your mission as a key-player developing the software functions of our positioning and tracking platform. The project entails implementing our UI, constructing our API, connecting the two, and setting up our server infrastructure. This includes all associated areas such as database and web platform architecture design and as such you will be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle: implementation, architecture, Devops, testing, requirements, and maintenance. Profiel:
Required Profile:
The experience for this position is more important than the degree. However, a Bachelor or a Master in engineering / IT / software development can be an asset. The successful software candidate shall have relevant experience in all of the skills list below.

• Experience with software design of high availability systems
• Experience in design of user-friendly user interfaces, usability-minded design skills
• Experience in developments with GIS (Geographic Information System) software in .NET environment and for web applications
• Experience in web-based map applications and interactive map applications over the web
• Design and deployment of our database
• Ensuring the entire stack is designed and built for speed and scalability
• Design and construction of our REST API
• Design and implementation of the overall web platform architecture
• Ability to work on complex systems and maintain code base
• Very good and demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with OO design and development techniques
• Writing testing and automation scripts to ensure software quality.

Required Skills:

• At least four years’ experience with:
• Particularly good algorithmic thinking skills.
• Proficiency in .NET Core framework, ASP.NET, and cross-platform deployment.
• Experience in Azure cloud and IoT services
• Master of technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Working proficiency in Java, Python, C# and C++
• Knowledge of DBMS technology like MySQL, SQLServer and MongoDB
• Server management and deployment
• Thorough understanding of web architecture, UI/UX design and possibly even product strategy
• Proficiency with Git
• Experience implementing testing platforms and unit tests
• Appreciation for clean and well-documented code
• Experience in Docker containers, microservices architecture, CI/CD
• Awareness of security concerns is important.

Aanbod:
Contract:

• The candidate will be hired ASAP
• Status: Full-time employment based on a fixed-term contract with the Patrimony of the Royal Military Academy (1 year), possibility of extension after 1 year. This does not imply that the candidate will be a civil servant.
• The wage scale will be defined according to the degree and / or the experience of the candidate, based on our intern wage scales (Bachelor degree = BI or BT scale, Master degree = A11).
• The usual workplace is the Royal Military Academy, 1000 Brussels, occasional travels abroad, measurement campaigns off campus and meeting at partner’s premises are possible
