As Ortho continues to grow, we are looking to recruit a Global Laboratory Automation Support Specialist. The successful applicant will work autonomously, acting as the project lead to ensure the successful implementation of Laboratory Automation systems and Middleware solutions in the Clinical Laboratory environment Globally and achieving high-level of customer excellence throughout the process.
The successful applicant will also provide Subject Matter Expert support during the sales process, which requires in-depth knowledge and experience with the core Instrument Manager Software and the additional IM Software Modules as well as the track hardware/software and analyser operation and interaction.
This position will be 100% remote.
Ideal candidate can be based in several locations in Western Europe (France, Spain, UK, Belgium etc)
What you’ll be doing
This position requires a full understanding of laboratory workflows in order to collect system configuration requirements and make recommendations to ensure full utilization of product offering to meet customer needs.
The Global Laboratory Automation Support Specialist:
- leads the project team during the implementation phase, creates and maintains the project plan, assigns tasks and monitors task completion, reports overall project progress. Also acts as a resource and trainer for colleagues with less experience. The Global Laboratory Automation Support Specialist is responsible for driving and managing complex system implementations, solving complex problems and, if necessary, taking new perspectives using existing solutions.
- acts as the subject matter expert for Hardware and/or System configuration upgrades and provides system configuration support together with the Technical Solution Centers and local support (expert) team.
- clearly articulates all technical details to customers and other audiences in a timely and appropriate fashion. The position interfaces with various groups including sales, Ortho Care teams, regulatory and Business Field, as well as supplier partners.
- provides sales support in order to understand and define the scope of the individual Laboratory Automation projects
- acts as the implementation project leader to ensure all aspects of the project are completed to achieve the successful implementation of the Laboratory Automation system in the Clinical Laboratory environment and ensures customer satisfaction.
- is the Subject Matter Expert for the Laboratory Automation and Middleware Software product, internally and externally. Collects specifications and builds, verifies or modifies system configurations to ensure customer needs.
- is overall accountable for a successful Operational Qualification (OQ) and ensures that customer is able to perform a successful and smooth Performance Qualification (PQ), as end-to-end testing, before handing over to the local (expert) support team upon project completion.
- trains customer on basic system operation.
- communicates effectively with customers, local (expert) teams, Regional Laboratory Automation Implementation team, Sales and Business Field team, and reports actively and proactively to the assigned Regional Laboratory Automation and Informatics Implementation Manager
- provides various levels of technical expertise including developing tools, writing/reviewing/developing procedure drafts, test protocols, and training materials as needed
Skills/Experience required:
- A minimum of 2 years in a laboratory environment experience on advanced level in Laboratory Automation as an IT/Software Application Specialist, Lab Specialist, Medical Technologist, or in-house tester
- Strong Project Management skills, preferably certified as PMP/Prince2 (or equivalent) or ability to obtain such certification
- Strong experience in Middleware Software Applications and LIS Interfacing (for instance Instrument Manager)
- Strong knowledge of Laboratory Automation and IVD analyzers
- Familiar with Process Excellence and best practices
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Workstation/Server), TCP/IP (Microsoft certification desirable), Virtualization; Hardware and Software troubleshooting proficiency
- Familiar with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Outlook,…), user level required, developer level desirable
- Familiar with AutoCad, Visio or equivalent Layout programs
- Ability to travel internationally up to 70% as needed. Extended Hours may also be required. Working outside normal office hours during specific circumstances such as on-site testing may be required.
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
- Fluent in English and preferably one or more other European languages - Arabic would be a plus.
- Good communication skills coupled with the ability to inspire confidence.
- Ability to establish customer relationships that will enhance the support of Ortho’s overall business.
