My client is looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Automation to join their fast growing and innovative company in Belgium. They are a world leader in machines for injectable drugs, specifically within the cutting-edge cell and gene therapy sector.

In this leadership role, you’ll head up the automation department, overseeing production, life cycle management, and development of new equipment. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Driving innovation by developing new equipment, defining automation architectures, and managing budgets.
  • Managing all aspects of the automation lifecycle, including design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Managing software configurations, troubleshooting issues and mitigating outdated components.
  • Collaborating with colleagues for seamless equipment integration and standardisation.
  • Leading a team of engineers through the entire project lifecycle, from development to after sales support.
  • Supporting sales with technical expertise and managing client requested changes.

As a Head of Automation, you will need the following qualifications:

  • Minimum master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in developing machine automation within a regulated environment like pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience with robots, Rockwell automation, B+R, Siemens PLCs, and Zenon supervision (a plus).
  • Fluent in English. French and German are a plus.
  • Proven track record in team management. Strong leadership qualities, empowering your team while ensuring quality and deadlines are met.
  • A meticulous, organised, and business orientated approach.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with clients, internal partners, and your team.
