Purpose of the Job

As a local HR business partner maintain frequent contacts with personnel and unions to assist, coach, develop and support them on all HR related topics in order to create and maintain a stable and positive social climate to enhance the company’s capability in taking on business challenges and to achieve the required business results in the short and long term.

Accountabilities

1. HR Business partner for (line) management and staff

As a local HR business partner support employees and (line) management on HR topics, maintain day-to-day contacts with personnel to enhance the company’s capability in taking on business challenges and to achieve the required business results in the short and long term.

• Coach and support line management on people management aspects.

• Be the SPOC for operational management and personnel for any HR related operational issue, be it at individual or collective level.

• Communicate, explain and translate the HR vision and strategy and its relevant actions to (line) management and personnel.

• Contribute to local business plans adding value in business discussions.

• Ensure contribution to (future) business and organizational needs as HR business partner, key role to play to facilitate change management and continuous operational improvement in the field.

2. Social relations

Participate in the industrial relations processes and maintain day-to-day contacts with union representatives to ensure that the company’s interests and those of its employees are kept in balance to always guarantee a positive social climate.

• Day-to-day contact with union representatives to treat and solve ongoing social issues and individual files.

• Together with or mandated by the HR Management, conduct negotiations for local procedures or collective labor agreements, including preparation, communication and follow-up. Ensure that these procedures or collective labor agreements are in line with legal obligations.

• Enhance constructive and positive social relations in general.

• Ensure the application of the Asco values in day-to-day contacts.

3. External relations

Establish and maintain - in close cooperation with HR Management - the required relationships with official and professional bodies to stay informed of all matters affecting the HR situation of the company and to safeguard the interests of the company.

• Number of social actions

• Number of legal complaints.

Profile Know How and Experience

Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in experience.

Min. 5-10 year experience as Business Partner Industrial Relations or HR generalist, involving a good overall knowledge of personnel administration.

Languages: Fluent in Dutch, French and English.

Experiences / Skills:

• Proven expertise in social/industrial relations and extensive labor law/social legislation knowledge, preferably acquired in industrial company environments.

• Strong experience in “on site” industrial relations, enjoys working with unions.

• Good operational skills and hands-on attitude, able to solve social day to day issues.

• Strong communication and relationship skills, ability to communicate and build trustful relations in a broad sense within a diverse working environment.

• Strong negotiation skills.

• High integrity, trustful towards all stakeholders, with good influencing skills, yet able to take decisions based on good judgement and business sense.

• Solid analytical skills, accurate in reporting and capable to dig into figures and work with KPI’s.

• Strong team player and people manager.

• Eagerness to work in a changing environment.

• Good understanding of overall business processes.
