For our client situated in west Flanders and active in nutritional supplement such as vitamins and minerals and more, we are looking for a Junior Procurement Specialist (buyer).

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for a wide range of supply chain/purchasing activities, regarding the sourcing of new ingredients and technologies as well as sourcing of existing materials to ensure business continuity (resourcing).

This position is the procurement lead in the execution of Existing Product Development (EPD) projects and Product Change Requests (PCRs).

In collaboration with Research and Innovation (R&I) and Marketing you support the identification and exploration of new ingredients for global New Product Development (NPD) projects.

You will identify and drive high impact cost savings projects through creative sourcing techniques and development of supplier partnerships. As sourcing specialist, you will contribute largely to cost savings projects.

  • You research global markets and stay abreast of industry changes and support innovation by presenting new innovative ingredients

  • You are responsible for organizing meetings with suppliers, engaging the right R&D specialists and present key opportunities to the business.

  • You ensure the sourcing of new materials, components, and technologies based on the requests of the global innovation team;

  • You also ensure sourcing of existing raw materials to ensure business continuity and minimize supply, quality, and cost risk;

  • You manage the regional and global sourcing approval process for both new and existing raw materials and technologies;

  • You manage technical agreements (specifications) and commercial agreements (terms) for these materials and technologies.

  • You manage good relationships with suppliers to ensure a steady supply and successfully negotiate effective prices and other conditions for the business;

  • You assist in managing supply contracts and related purchasing activities.


Profiel

Your profile

  • You hold a bachelors degree in an economical or scientific domain or equivalent by experience;

  • Preferably, you have 2+ years’ experience in a procurement role or you can demonstrate the required skills otherwise;

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required. Fluency in Dutch is also required.

  • You have a dynamic and flexible attitude, as you will work in a dynamic, fast growing company;

  • You display healthy dose of assertiveness, proactivity and like to take initiatives;

  • You are well organized and able to translate business priorities into the right focus;

  • You are a real team player but also value a high degree of autonomy in organizing your work in a global organization;

  • You have a strong affinity for raw materials and curious about learning the scientific basics;

  • You have a commercial flair and love contact with external and internal stakeholders;

  • You are willing to travel in this job; this is limited within Europe (ev. European suppliers and some trade fairs).

  • Some days you will have digital meetings that are outside of business hours to support global teams (typically 1-2 hours/week).
