SMEunited is currently seeking a Policy Adviser in Social Affairs. This full-time position is based in Brussels. Your range of tasks will consist of supporting and organising the implementation of an EU-funded project on capacity building of national SME organisations - social partners.

Overview of tasks

Contribute to the work of the Social Affairs team by:

• supporting and implementing the activities of an EU-funded project on capacity building of national SME organisations - social partners, organising meetings, ensuring follow-up,

• monitoring EU initiatives in social and training policy, social dialogue and employment policy, in view of this project,

• informing national and sectoral member organisations on the initiatives and collecting their views,

• contributing to the development of position papers and further communication,

• representing SMEunited and actively participating in meetings and committees at European level,

• maintaining contact with EU social partners, sector organisations and national member organisations.

Skills & competences

For this position, the candidate should have at least 2-3 years of experience in the field of the EU decision-making process and master the following skills:

• good experience with implementation of EU-funded projects

• good understanding of the EU institutions

• good understanding of the SME working environment

• knowhow on social policy, social dialogue, labour market are an asset

• excellent interpersonal skills and team player

• analytical, creative and problem-solving abilities

• effective verbal and written communication skills

• attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• ability to adapt to a multicultural working environment

• team spirit

• fully IT skilled, with good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

• fluent in English – knowledge of other European languages is an added value

• flexibility - willingness to travel

Conditions

The vacancy is a full-time position (38 hours per week) with a permanent contract under Belgian law. The position is based in Brussels. Applicants must have the right to work in Belgium. SMEunited offers a competitive salary package consisting of a monthly salary and several additional in-kind benefits. An attractive holiday plan is offered as well.
