CETAF AISBL is recruiting aProject Communication Specialist
As Project Communication Specialist(M/F/X), you will join our team at the General Secretariat in Brussels. You will support and develop project-related communication and dissemination actions, from strategic definition to implementation activities.
Who are we?
The CETAF community unites major natural history and natural science museums, botanic gardens and research centres in Europe to create a unique research network made up by 40 Members including 71 research organizations across 22 countries. The collections at the heart of CETAF Members facilitate fundamental geodiversity and biodiversity research, particularly in taxonomy and systematics, that enables ground-breaking discoveries across broad fields of science. The CETAF community jointly holds 1.5 billion specimens that represent about 80% of the world’s described species. These institutions and their researchers are custodians of this irreplaceable natural heritage that serves scientific and social progress.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be mainly taking part in the BiCIKL project but also in other current CETAF-related projects: SYNTHESYS+, ENVRI-FAIR , MOBILISE COST Action, and DiSSCo Prepare.
- As project Communication Specialist, you will be mainly working through the platforms and channels of the project (website, newsletter and social media) but also through other innovative tools (as GitHub, wiki, etc.)
- You will participate in the development of communication materials (both printed and digital)
- You will support the CETAF Communications team in networking, contributing to reinforcing CETAF’s connections, tightening engagement with CETAF members and stakeholders and expanding the CETAF network
- You will furthermore support the General Secretariat in its daily activities involved in managing the CETAF network and providing services to its members
- You will be working closely with the rest of the team and under the direct supervision of the Executive Director in collaboration with the Communications Assistant.
Specific Tasks:
- Develop and implement the communication and dissemination strategies of BiCIKL and the other CETAF-related projects
- Regularly update, improve and encourage the use of projects’ communication websites and channels (distribution lists, blogs, etc.) and social media (Twitter, Facebook etc.)
- Produce work plans and define activities to achieve the communication objectives of the CETAF projects
- Report on the projects’ tasks related to communication and outreach activities to comply with the project’s requirements
- Produce communication content (from press releases to blog content and social media posts)
- Propose, co- develop visual/multimedia material: including flyers, brochures, posters, videos or any other product relevant to the projects’ activities
- Other communication-related activities in support of the CETAF Communications team
Position Requirements:
- University degree or equivalent experience in communications or another position-relevant domain
- Background in the field of Communications, preferably in an international environment
- Experience in international associations, the EU policy environment and/or the scientific domain/museums would be highly appreciated
- The ideal candidate will have the following specific competencies:
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with strong writing and editorial abilities
- Advanced digital skills, specifically (R: Required qualification, D: Desirable qualification):
- experience in social media management (R)
- proficiency in using the Microsoft package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) (R)
- ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or similar graphic editing software (R)
- competency in CMS management for web maintenance (Drupal/WordPress) (D)
- comfortable use of various communication tools and platforms, e.g., project management tools (e.g., Teamwork, Emdesk, etc.) (D)
- Proactiveness, networking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to members and stakeholders
- Well-organised with an eye for detail
- Self-sufficient
- Strategic and objective-oriented
- Collaborative in nature and working as part of a team (R)
Languages:English is CETAF’s working language. Good knowledge of French and/or Dutch valuable. Other European languages are an asset.
General Conditions:
- Start date: September/October 2021
- Work pattern: Part time (3 days/week, 20 hrs/week)
- Contract:1 year (renewable and extendable)
