The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is the world’s largest organisation of healthcare professionals dedicated to fighting heart disease. It helps more than 95,000 cardiologists from 150 countries expand the boundaries of cardiovascular medicine so people can lead longer, healthier lives.

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) seeks applications for the position of a Project Manager in Health Economics (Project lead) to contribute to the projects run by the Health Economics and Health Policy Unit, based in the ESC Brussels office. The job objective is to devise and implement capacity building and research in health economics, health policy and health management aspects in the cardiovascular diseases arena.

The position combines project management with scientific contribution in the field of health economics applied to cardiovascular filed. The Project Manager will work within the Health Economics and Health Policy Unit, unit of the European Heart Health Institute (EHHI), under the supervision of the European Heart Health Institute manager.

Main responsibilities:

Scientific contribution

. Support the scientific work of the Health Economics and Health Policy Unit on a variety of projects in the area of Health Economics, such as economic evaluation analysis (burden of illness, cost-effectiveness, cost-utility analysis) of health technologies, health policy impact assessment and health financing.

. Contribute to both design and conduct of studies, data collection, analysis and dissemination.

· Participate in systematic literature reviews.

· Contribute actively to identifying opportunities for collaboration (within and outside the organization) in developing, implementing and disseminating the results of the studies.

· Develop the scientific communication related to ESC health economics projects, in view of distribution to general audience, grant applications or for other specialized audiences via scientific publications.

Project Management

· Coordinate the project(s), according to the Project Management principles, within the allocated budget and timelines.

· Provide administrative support to Health Economics and Health Policy Unit leadership and associated meetings, in collaboration with the EHHI staff.

· Ability to work collaboratively with the European Heart Health Institute and more broadly with the relevant ESC departments in the development of EU and other research grant proposals

Qualifications:

· Degree in health economics/economics/management/social sciences with strong interest in healthcare.

· Minimum 3 years’ work experience in relevant setting (academic, industry or consulting).

· Interest in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

· Project Management experience in scientific project is an important advantage

· Experience in data analysis is an advantage.

· Demonstrable energy and perseverance to develop multi-disciplinary projects in close cooperation with different European partners

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to perform in a multicultural environment

· Ability to work under pressure and be flexible

· Self-driven and multi-task oriented

· Excellent English, any additional language would be an asset
