There are many process engineers in our company, which are specialists in their part of the business. For enhanced modelling, they can rely on modelling specialists, but apart from that, we also want to give them access to a modern data science platform, so they can do quite some investigations themselves. For the further enhancement and deployment of this data platform, we are looking for a new colleague with the right skills.

Introduction

To facilitate data analysis in our company we developed a package, build with a set of community libraries. The goal of this package is to make it easy to access the data, explore the data, and do transformations in an interactive manner. Afterwards Python code can be generated to make the research repeatable, ensuring good knowledge management.

Now we are looking to take this further and create a “Data Science Platform” to serve our users around the globe. We also want to establish a “Python Community” where users and developers can cooperate and further enhance these tools.

Function

The data science platform specialist:
  • will be responsible for setup and management of our data science platform.
  • will be the driving force in the further development and enhancement of the Python package.
  • Will be the community manager that ensures a good cooperation between the specialists in R&D and production sites around the globe.
Profile
  • You enjoy combining technical work and exchange with users to translate their needs in a technical solution
  • Extended programming experience with Python
  • Familiarity with the Python eco system for data science (NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, plotly, jupyter, ...)
  • Knowledge of package and environment managers such as conda, Pip
  • Knowledge of Version Control with GIT
  • Notions of C/C++ (experience creating C-extensions to Python is an asset)
  • Experience with Jupyterhub and container technologies would be useful
  • You know your way around both in Windows OS and Linux OS
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Azure, Microsoft SQL Server, Elasticsearch, Jupyterhub, or willing to learn these technologies are considered as advantages
  • You’re not afraid to dive into new technology
  • You can communicate clearly in English (both written as spoken)
