Our customer, S-Biomedic, is a biotech leader in the skin microbiome space and a company of Beiersdorf AG. To reinforce the team dedicated to the research and development of novel biologic ingredients in the skincare industry in their lab in Ghent, we are looking for a:

R&D Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scientist to join our cutting-edge research team. The ideal candidate will lead the design, planning, execution, and documentation of experiments focused on assay development, molecular biology, and cell culture. This role also involves the development and implementation of bioinformatic tools for data analysis, guiding junior staff, and ensuring lab safety and hygiene.

We highlight the following tasks:

• Design, plan, perform, and document experiments in skin research, focusing on assay development, molecular biology, and cell culture.
• Use bioinformatic tools for big data analysis.
• Prepare and present scientific reports to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and implement new protocols (SOPs).
• Guide and mentor interns and junior colleagues.
• Act as an ambassador for maintaining safety, order, and hygiene in the lab environment.

Previous experience in one of the following fields is a must

• Advanced skin models
• Dermatological drug development
• The skin microbiome
• Biologics in skincare

We are searching for someone with a master’s degree or PhD in Biotechnology, Bioscience Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of experience on assays development, molecular biology, mammalian cell’s cultures and general microbiology techniques as well as experience with bioinformatic tools for data analysis. Fluency in English is a must.
