Sony R&D Center - Brussels Laboratory (BRL) in Zaventem (Belgium) is seeking a Senior Researcher (Data Scientist) to join an R&D team delivering Analysis of AI Systems Security.

We are offering a unique multidisciplinary position that allows the candidate to gain and show expertise in cutting-edge technologies positioned at the intersection of Machine Learning and Cybersecurity.

The Researcher will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Explore and evaluate the latest techniques for security of AI systems

  • Ideate and formulate hypothesis for novel methods development

  • Design and conduct experiments to validate hypothesis

  • Analyze results to identify and plan improvement opportunities

  • Develop proofs of concept

Profile:

The successful candidate will have the following profile / experience:

Key experience and skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other relevant degree

  • Solid and proven experience in Data Analysis

  • Deep understanding of Machine Learning and experience in model development/maintenance

  • Good programming skills in Python and software Engineering best practices

Desirable experience:

  • Capability of producing high quality scientific documents and reports

  • Proven experience in research environments (PhD with a high-level publication record is a plus)

  • Experience with generating ideas for patent creation

  • Knowledge or interest in financial fraud detection techniques

  • Experience with common tools for software maintenance (GitHub, …)

  • Experience or user knowledge of scrum mechanisms and tools (Jira, Rally, …)

Apart from these pure technical skills, the ideal candidate should also possess:

  • The ability to integrate and be productive in multidisciplinary team, to assist and guide other team members when required, and to help improve the team’s productivity

  • A spontaneous curiosity and interest in AI and Security topics

  • The ability to work independently and pro-actively

  • A strong quality orientation, combined with a pragmatic attitude to deliver

  • Strong command of English

  • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills

  • Excellent documentation and effective summarization skills
