We are looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our Tax and Accounting division at Wolters Kluwer. We won’t state the obvious regarding what UX Design exactly is. As UX-ers, we are the advocates of the user. We think outside of the box to envision novel solutions to clearly defined problems. We won’t bother you by telling you that we like to validate our approach with frequent research using all kinds of techniques. Let alone ask you to tell us that we need to design stuff, in different levels of fidelity too. In this role you will advocate UX within our organization, not only within the development teams.
About this role
We are looking for someone who can combine design and development: a deviner! Not just to make things that are divine, but also to have fun with us while doing so. We won’t ask you to be the person to do all of these things at once. We would like you to focus on wireframing and visual design first and bring your html/css skills with you while you’re at it. Because we work in multidisciplinary teams on our projects, we are looking for a real teamplayer. We help to bring out the best in each other, everyone contributes to the best of their abilities and has the confidence to speak up when necessary.
We like to go fast, so we have a few neat things in place to help us go fast. We follow the Wolters Kluwer Brand Guidelines. This is not some boring set of rules to follow to the T, but a living and breathing global community of UX designers and developers, where you are welcome to contribute if you see the opportunity, and where you can find a crazy load of best practices and frequent online interaction with your global colleagues.
In this global community we have created our “product design system”. This is a set of base patterns and components that can be reused and tailored within every project and can be extended by the local teams where necessary. Of course, you as UX’er can add new components or features to this library so that other teams can also benefit from your effort and ideas. And importantly, we want you to be the UX representative for Belgium within this community. You will be attending meetings and workshops to promote our Belgian work and to streamline global initiatives with our projects.
Your key responsibilities
Be a part of a team
You are a team player and determined to meet the team’s goals. You will work closely together with developers, technical architects, analysts, project management, product developers and business development.
Improve UX-expertise
Review the work of your fellow UX-ers and provide constructive feedback. With our Win as a Team mentality, we expect you to share best practices to raise the knowledge of our colleagues to a higher level.
User research and observation
You can help visualize the research and usage data in a clear and insightful way. We don’t want data to live somewhere in a sad folder, we want it to be shared and discussed by the different teams. Ability to visualize data is a big plus in our book!
Wireframing and Mockups
You can dole out prototypes, wireframes, and even detailed designs in a jiffy. “Getting in the zone” is just another way of saying you are achieving flow when designing, it comes effortlessly and naturally for you. You know when to use what type of prototyping. Lean and mean wireframes in some cases, beautiful gems of detailed design in other cases. You are not just a wireframing wonder, you are a detailed design devil as well.
Follow the market
An important part of your job is to proactively look at our market and the UX world.
Coder skills
On top of this, you can discuss html/css implementations with our front-end developers to make your designs come to life in a browser or mobile device.
