The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (38 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (15 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Duties
Working supervisor for the Building Mechanic Shop. Prioritizes work order requests for 240 leased and 50 government owned residential properties. Schedules the daily work assignments for him/herself and four other building mechanics. Responsible for completing work orders, timesheets, and ordering supplies and materials. Maintains positive control over the tools and supplies kept in the Building Mechanic Shop. Provides quality control reports for the work performed by local contractors. Ensures the Building Mechanics uses proper safety procedures.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: At least five years of experience in building construction.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Very good knowledge of building construction and all fields of the maintenance program, including blueprints. Good knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Completion of high school including vocational specialization in the construction/builder, tile layer, welder or mason fields producing a journey-level qualification is required.
LANGUAGE: Good working knowledge in English. Good working knowledge in Dutch or French.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Weld metal, masonry work, tile laying, rug and linoleum work, de-mantling and installation of partitioning, installation of drop ceilings. Must be able to read blueprints. Use of office computer system and data applications for scheduling, including typing skills. Must have a valid driver’s license B.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), working at the U.S. Mission in Brussels receive a compensation package that includes health, life insurance extra-legal pension, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
