Farm Sitter/Horse care taker

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for n. 1 FARM SITTER/HORSE CARE TAKER for a farm with beautiful Arabian horses, lovely foals and exceptional stallions in Belgium.
The farm sitter will be responsible for taking care of the broodmares with foals and the young stock on the breeding side of the farm and for the daily management at the breeding barn.

Some of the tasks are:

Feeding the mares and foals, assisting the vet, see to it that all the horses are healthy and look good.

Helping to put the horses in and out, helping with mucking out the stables.

Check if there is always enough food, hay, shavings, looking at the fields.


SKILLS:

Affinity and passion regarding this very specific field of work.

Around 2 years’ experience in the field of work, especially with delivering foals, handling young stock.

Good level of English: B1 – intermediate minimum is required.

To be a responsible person who will also notice and report problems of all kinds with the horses, equipment or infrastructure.

To be able to work independently and also within a team.


PLACE OF WORK: Balen, Belgium

WORK CONDITIONS:

Permanent postition, full-time contract, day hours with feeding at 20:00 and farm sitting, comparable to a concierge function.

Start in September 2022 after agreement.

Salary: 1.500 euros net/month minumum, wages in accordance with agreement.

Accomodation: a furnished apartment with kitchen, bathroom, private bedroom, TV and internet.
