The Department of Biology in the Faculty of Sciences is looking for a full-time(100%) postdoctoralscholarship holder in the field ofplant molecular biology (bio-informatics analyses).
Position
- You will assist in ongoing research projects in plant molecular biology (bio-informatics analyses) and the activities of the PLECO and IMPRES research groups.
- You will help coordinate project proposals in the field of plant molecular biology and contribute to attracting external funding.
- You will assist in the supervision of PhD students and other team members.
- You will fulfil a limited number of teaching activities (e.g. assisting practical classes, exercises, workshops).
- You will participate in the provision of academic services: you will represent the research group both internally and externally, help to coordinate service projects, and so on.
Profile
- You hold a PhD in Biological Sciences, Bio-technology or Bio-engineering, with particular emphasis on bio-informatics analyses, (or you will have obtained it by the time you start work).
- Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.
- Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
- You can speak and write fluently in English.
- You have experience in bio-informatics analyses of NGS transcriptome datasets.
What we offer
- We offer a full-time contract as a postdoctoral scholarship holder for a period of up to 18 months*.
- Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for postdoctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
- You will receive ecocheques, internet-connectivity allowance , and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
- The planned start date is as soon as possible.
- You will do most of your work at the Groenenborgercampus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
