A major international energy company is currently looking for a Chief Economist to join its Brussels office.

A strategic position has just been created in Brussels. Reporting to the CEO, you will occupy a central position where you will have a high visibility within the company.

Your main responsibilities as the new Chief Economist will include:

  • Act as an internal reference and expert on energy-related economic issues (market model, market design, support mechanisms, market operation, etc.).
  • Advise Belgian global business units
  • Supervise internal studies
  • Develop and manage personal relationships with academic players, opinion leaders, knowledge institutions across Belgium.
  • Operate as a public representative (create, write, and share company content/ideas through public speaking and events; active presence via social media, podcasts, webinars, etc.).
  • Consolidate vision of strategic objectives (provide information on objectives and priorities).

About you:

  • You have a master’s degree in commercial engineer or civil engineer
  • You are fluent in French, Dutch, and English
  • You have at least 10 years’ experience in the energy sector
  • You are familiar with strategic analysis
  • You have consultancy or economics experience
  • You have a particular interest and experience in energy economics
  • You are an expert communicator, both orally and in writing
