The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.
Nokia Deepfield is a business unit that builds the DDoS security and IP network analytics solutions that monitor and/or defend a large number of internet backbone networks. Our customers are the Internet - from communication service providers, Internet backbone and transit providers, Internet exchanges and content providers to large enterprises. We have been aggressively expanding into the DDoS security space, bringing a next-generation solution that uses the power of big-data in combination with the monitoring and mitigation capabilities of modern routers to eliminate DDoS attacks at a fraction of the cost of legacy solutions.
We are looking for an experienced (5+ years) Sales Engineer to strengthen our EMEA team of Deepfield Consulting SEs and regional PLM. You will be part of a small but dynamic team of motivated experts that have a “yes we can” attitude to do all that is needed to drive the Deepfield business growth across the region, working closely with customers, Nokia Business Development, local Sales and Sales Engineering teams, and with very short communication lines with the Deepfield Product management and Development teams.
What you will learn and contribute to
As part of the Deepfield EMEA SE & rPLM team, you will, amongst many other things
- Use your in-depth technical knowledge to lead detailed, engaging, and challenging conversations with customers about complex DDoS and analytics solutions. At the same time, you will to be able to uplevel the discussion when needed and articulate concisely at CxO level the business value of Nokia Deepfield.
- Be the technical point of contact and expertise for Sales Engineers, Consulting SEs and account teams across the EMEA region for all Deepfield pre-sales engagements.
- Train and support Nokia’s regional SE and account teams to sell the Deepfield solution.
- Support the local account and SE teams for answering technical RFI/RFP tenders
- Provide Deepfield customer demos and support trials
- Provide consultancy for customers projects
- Actively identify product needs for our European customers and discuss these with the central Product Managers and Development teams to steer the product strategy and have a key role in defining the Nokia Deepfield product evolution.
- Stay on top of the latest technology and trends in DDoS and Analytics solutions
- Present the Deepfield solution and related Nokia strategy in publicor private conferences.
- Build a good understanding of competing products to identify unique selling values and actively work with Product Management to identify and eliminate eventual gaps.
The role involves frequent travelling (up to 30%) to Nokia and/or customer locations.
Your skills and experience
You have/You are:
- A university degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or Computer Science
- At least 10 years of experience in the Networking industry preferably in a Service Provider environment or a hardware/software vendor
- A thorough understanding of IP networking and DDoS security and how DDoS solutions are implemented in networks
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical pre-sales role, successfully selling complex networking or security solutions to Network Operators or Web scale companies.
- A strong customer focus, able to listen and quickly understand customer needs and proven track record to build strong relationships with customers to advance deals.
- Excellent presentations skills at various customer levels: from technical engineering teams to executive level.
- Ability to shift from high-level thinking to realistic and pragmatic execution is essential.
- Fluent in English – oral and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated and driven to succeed with the ability to travel and to work remotely
It would be nice if you also had:
- A good understanding of Traffic Analytics, BGP, Flowspec, NETFLOW/SFLOW, DNS, gRPC telemetry, Netconf/Yang/SNMP, IP/MPLS VPN services
- Hands-on working experience with leading router products or DDoS solutions.
- Hands-on Linux, virtualisation and python experience

- Able to contribute to building solution and sale strategies to successfully grow the business within the region
