Job Description

Job Summary
  • Cost effective and management of the patents portfolio
  • Provide education to the community on patent matters
  • Draft and negotiate the intellectual property-related terms of collaboration contracts
  • Ensure competitive and technological patents monitoring
  • Advise on questions of patentability and patent prosecution procedure.
  • Evaluate scientific and novel aspects of inventions and patentability
  • Responsible for supporting patent attorneys by performing various administrative duties and tasks.
  • Manage IP budget

Responsabilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These include the following :
  • Interface with our external patent offices.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate reviews.
  • Provide patent prosecution backup to Management Teams and Group Executive Committee
  • Drafting of patent application
  • Review and assist in the drafting of non- disclosure, research, license and other agreements involving the use, transfer, or ownership of intellectual property.
  • Defining IP strategies for new market entries.
  • Orient the Corporate IP Strategy

This function reports to the Group R&D Director

Ideal candidate

Education

Advanced Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Sciences or equivalent

Experience
  • Experience in intellectual property (training in patent law is a plus) .
  • Some years of experience in an operational function in industry (preferably in R&D, product & process development, production)

Soft Skills
  • Leader, decisive when needed and required, with a sense of urgency,
  • Rigorous,
  • Strong communication skills

Professional Skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and maintain a high quality work
  • Good communicator (written and oral) able to convey the key focal points in English and French
  • Precise
  • Methodical and organized
  • At ease with legal aspects in general
