WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The primary duty of the Purchasing Manager is to manage supplier relationships and performance to meet company expectations and objectives; be capable of managing the most complicated and difficult supplier relationships and performance issues; anticipate, recognize, analyze and solve complex supply problems; communicate to and involve colleagues, management and stakeholders as necessary.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the Belgium Plants’ Support Manager, you will be in charge of:
Managing Belgium indirect purchasing team in order to define a purchasing strategy with the central commodities.
Creating, executing, maintaining and continually improving upon commodity strategies for the countries assigned; focused on current and future alignment of technology requirements, and achieving objectives in terms of total cost, lead-time, quality, risk mitigation, and overall supply chain effectiveness. Leading the development of these strategies in coordination with central purchasing and other functional areas;
Leading the evaluation and selection of new suppliers, developing existing suppliers and overall supplier management;
Developing competitive negotiations to drive cost reduction initiatives with the supply base, while meeting service and quality requirements;
Managing supplier contracts and long-term agreements with preferred suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance and future business needs are aligned;
Drafting and submitting annual budget proposal for Belgium Indirect Purchasing, updating budget and tracking performance against projections. Making modifications based on changes in economics, raw materials, volumes, etc. and investigating and explaining budget variances;
Coordinating and collaborating with direct reports, central purchasing and internal colleagues (marketing, brands, warehouse, plant operations, human resources, information technology team, etc.) to achieve sourcing targets, cost objectives and lead times in order to meet internal customer demands;
Providing leadership and developing an understanding of the market for Capex Services and Indirect, including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, lead-times, technology and capabilities of current suppliers and suppliers in the market that best meet expectations and objectives.
YOUR KEY COMPETENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor or Master’s Degree, preferable Economics
Fluent English mandatory, Dutch recommended
Excellent communication skills
