Our customer, S-Biomedic, is a biotech leader in the skin microbiome space and a company of Beiersdorf AG. To support the team dedicated to the research and development of novel biologic ingredients in the skincare industry in their lab in Ghent, we are looking for a:

R&D Technician – Probiotics Skincare

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented R&D Technician to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will support R&D Scientists in various experiments, assist the Manufacturing team with routine quality controls, and contribute to the development and implementation of new protocols. This role is crucial for maintaining their high standards of safety, order, and hygiene in the lab environment.

We highlight the following tasks:

  • Support R&D Scientists in performing, evaluating, and documenting experiments in general microbiology, molecular biology, fermentation, and downstream processing.
  • Assist the Manufacturing team with routine quality controls.
  • Develop and implement new protocols (SOPs).
  • Maintain lab equipment and manage associated documentation.
  • Train colleagues in technical areas of expertise.
  • Act as an ambassador for maintaining safety, order, and hygiene in the lab environment.

We are searching for someone with a bachelor’s or applied sciences degree (HBO/Hoge School) in Biotechnology, Bioscience Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, with knowledge of general microbiology techniques, molecular biology, assays and analytical methods. Background in the cosmetic/probiotics industry and knowledge of lab-scale fermentation and/or downstream processing is a big plus. Fluency in English is a must.
