Our client is a key player in energy infrastructure at international level. Their corporate headquarters are based in the center of Brussels. To support their continuous growth, they are currently looking to strengthen their M&A finance team with a Strategic Investment Analyst.

Job purpose

You will establish and maintain comprehensive long-term financial analyses and valuations to enable management to make strategic decisions on the participation/exit of affiliates and the optimization of the Group’s long-term value. You will be involved in various M&A/Business Development projects in Belgium, Europe and overseas, covering existing and new businesses (hydrogen, energy transition, carbon capture…). As part of a transversal team, you will be in regular contact with internal stakeholders (Business Development, Commercial, Legal, Tax, Financing, Technical, Controlling, HR, etc.) as well as external parties(investment banks, expert advisors, partners, etc.).

Tasks and responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the valuation, business plan modelling and financial due diligence of the target assets in M&A and business development transactions.
• You will play a key coordination role in all other financial matters (tax, structuring, financing, accounting), working in close cooperation with internal experts.
• You will coordinate and act as a key contact person for the investment banks, financial advisors and the Business Development team.
• You will work within a cross-functional project team and actively participate in discussions on the non-financial streams of the projects (commercial, technical, tax, legal, etc.) in order to integrate the risks and opportunities identified in your analyses.
• You will identify and implement improvements for value creation in terms of cost efficiency, financing, capital structure, cash management and other business plan optimizations.
• You will prepare presentations for the management and the board.
• After the transactions, you will monitor the business valuation and return on investment, which involves cash flow projections, business plan set up and review, business modelling and sensitivity analyses.

Profile

• A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Management or similar.
• 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in Advisory or Corporate M&A, Corporate Finance, Private Equity or Business Development.
• Expertise in business valuation and modelling.
• A deep understanding of corporate finance, valuation techniques and financial analysis (modelling, business plan analysis, cost of capital,…).
• Strong analytical skills, proactivity and ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
• Team spirit with good communication skills, you are able to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong commitment, impact and result orientation.
• A strong interest in the energy sector and innovation, and the ability to work in a changing environment.
• Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
• A good command English and French and/or Dutch.
