We have a committed and diverse 150-people strong R&D organization, of which 80 people are based in our headquarters in Antwerp. Here we develop compressors and tools for the European market. About the role

We are looking for a passionate Sustainability Engineer with a focus on eco-design. This is an important and cross-functional role where you will strengthen the local Engineering department and at the same time have a global perspective supporting the complete Portable Air division.

To continuously reduce our global footprint, you will improve and support our product development using sustainability tools and eco-design principles.

As main responsibilities you will:

• Define how to include sustainability and circularity in product development
• Develop tools to support these processes and define KPI’s for follow up
• Actively manage the implementation of relevant processes and tools in the worldwide R&D organization
• Perform environmental reviews in product development projects
• Monitor relevant legislation, standards and customer demands to ensure compliance of our products and processes to environmental requirements (such as chemical compliance). In order to do so, you will participate in and actively work with various workgroups, committees, standard organizations, authorities etc.
• Support the Product Manager Sustainability and Digitalization with the development of a sustainable product portfolio.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders

You will report to the Team Leader Design Review & Competence Management, and will be part of the divisional R&D organization.

You will work in close collaboration with the Business Area Sustainability Manager.

To succeed, you will need

You hold an academic degree in sustainability, engineering, chemistry, or equivalent through experience. Experience in interpreting product-regulatory requirements with focus on chemical, ethical and environmental areas is desired but not a requirement.
