What will you do as Qesh Officer?

As a QESH Officer you will be developing, secure and continuously improve QESH management systems within the assigned organization with a primary focus Safety and Health regulations and the required certification (eg ISO 9001, ISO 13485, etc).

As a professional of the QESH (Quality, Environment, Safety & Health) department, you will make an important contribution to the safe and healthy working of employees. The objective of the position is to manage and monitor the quality, health and safety and environmental care systems for the dynamic GXO locations. In addition, we proactively contribute to developing, standardizing, optimizing and securing organization-wide business processes. To achieve this, you gain a lot of trust, freedom and personal responsibility. Ownership and initiative are expected from you.

After you start at GXO there is a route for you to get to know your colleagues and QESH within the organization. During this period you will be given the time and space to acquire all the necessary knowledge of the various working methods, systems and regulations.

To be successful, you will be able to convey your professional knowledge in a powerful way and you will be able to emphasize the importance of safety, quality and security in a convincing and natural way. You report to the Safety Manager EMEA and work closely together with the site manager.

Your tasks consist of:

  • Advising on the implementation of the quality, environmental, safety and working conditions policy for two sites
  • Keeping internal procedures up to date with attention for changed legislation and regulations, customer requirements and internal improvement processes
  • Enforcing and improving the follow-up of the established quality management systems by means of auditing and sampling
  • Providing guidance to the Health and Safety Committee
  • Assisting external assessors of customers, certifying bodies, insurance companies and the competent authority
  • Carrying out periodic risk inventories and associated analyses
  • Providing operational advice in relation to Quality, Safety and the Environment
  • Investigating registered incidents and making periodic reports

What do you need:

  • Higher professional education (HBO) thinking and working level, with a background in safety science and quality management
  • At least 4 years of logistical experience of which at least 2 as QESH officer
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding all QESH related subjects that are applicable in a logistics environment
  • Extensive experience with the guidelines on hazardous substances (BRZO/SEVESO III/PGS 15 etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with Business Contingency Management and related standards
  • You are careful, decisive, communicatively strong, independent, tenacious and stress resistant
