Safety Officer (Preventieadvseur)

We are looking for a Safety Officer at Avery Dennison Performance Tapes in Turnhout, Belgium.

Together with the colleagues of the EHS department and in close cooperation with the leadership you will organize activities and execute actions in relation to safety, health and environment.

• By showing exemplarity behavior, frequent presence on the shop floor, performing risk assessments, advising or supporting the development of instructions and toolboxes, you are the first point of contact for the different stakeholders
• Organize or participate in EHS related meetings ( safety council, safety teams, daily operations meetings)
• Waste & PPE management: ensure legal compliance, manage cost and suggest improvements.
• General administration: maintain reports and KPI’s, collect and enter data in different systems, process invoices from service providers, consultants and experts.
• Legal compliance : cooperate with governmental officials for occupational health and safety, environmental inspectors …, provide field support for waste water and air emission measurement, soil investigation…., report out to the corporate organization on those topics
• Training & coaching of employees and first line leadership : perform safety introductions and job specific safety trainings for new employees, organize training with external partners related to first aid, fire intervention, ergonomics, forklift, electrical safety …
• Participate in the corporate European network for safety officers
• Participate in safety talks, safety inspections and audits
• Investigate incidents and accidents and propose preventive measures
• Take initiatives to continuously improve the performance and lift the EHS-culture to a higher level
  
  

• Prevention advisor experienced level II or junior prevention advisor level I
• Experience in manufacturing industry, chemical manufacturing is a plus
• IT skills: Google Workspace
• Good communication skills (spoken and written) in Dutch and English
