We are looking for a Customs Manager for our office located in Geel. Are you the passionated professional which we are looking for?
Your Role

In your role as Customs Manager, you will have the responsibility to lead and supervise the operations in the Customs department for our contract logistics sites in Geel, Eindhout, Tessenderlo, Mechelen and possible future sites. You will report to the national customs manager Belux and hold managerial responsibility of an experienced Customs team of more than 20 customs officers together with three local customs managers. The scope of the position is to develop and further elevate the operations in our existing Customs division with a customer-centric approach to ensure commercial excellence.
Your Responsibilities
  • Support the site customs managers with their tasks and ensure performance objectives and targets are met;
  • Maintain a high level overview of all contract logistics customs operations for the different customers and advise them on legislative topics
  • Lead projects and continuously improve and streamline the workflow processes in order to optimize the productivity, sharing best practices between sites
  • Look actively for overlap and opportunities between custom teams within BELUX
  • Build, maintain and develop good relationships with external clients and Belgian Customs Authorities to maximize sales and enlarge current customs capacities
  • Share the implementation process of new customers and / or new traffic flows with the site customs manager;
  • You will have P&L responsibility
  • Follow up administration and billing
  • Act as a leader and actively support change processes in the market to raise productivity and performance within the teams

Your Skills And Experiences
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a people manager in Customs, preferably in the logistics industry;
  • Thorough knowledge of both customs and excise processes
  • Strong warehouse legislative knowledge
  • Process-oriented and commercially-minded
  • Excellent communication, presentation and mentoring skills and capable of making decisions in line with relevant laws and regulations;
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills;
  • Advanced knowledge MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Advanced knowledge of Customs Brokerage software (Customs Streamliner)
  • Fluency in oral and written Dutch and English, working proficiency of French and German
