Senior Associate Scientist - Infectious Diseases Discovery

We are looking for a Senior Associate Scientistfor a top Biopharma client in Beerse, Belgium!

TheInfectious Diseases Discovery group is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to lead efforts in the discovery of novel prophylactic and therapeutic agents, focusing on SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses. The position is for 1 year, potentially renewable for another 2 years. The team is currently made up of 4 people from international backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

You will…
  • Be part of a drug discovery project.
  • Performing and analyze independently molecular, cellular and in vivo experiments, alongside other team members of the project.
  • Contribute to establishing new tools, assays, and relevant disease models.
  • Work under limited supervision with a weekly autonomy.
  • Suggest unsolicited improvements and ideas to team leaders/ colleagues.
  • May teach students / junior scientists regarding processes, techniques and tasks.
Qualifications
  • M. Sc. degree in Virology or related disciplines, with 6+ years of industry experience, or a B. Sc. with 9+ years of industry experience, or the equivalent training/experience.
  • Proven experience working in a BSL3 laboratory is required. BSL 2 and 3 required.
  • Virology experience required.
  • Experience in Respiratory viral infections, at the molecular, cellular and in vivo level, is a plus
  • FELASA B certificate or equivalent, for in vivo experiments, is a plus.
  • Fluent in English. Any other language is a plus.
  • Precise, accountable, reliable, diligent, works well both alone and in a team.
Practicalities
  • Location: Beerse, BE
  • 40 hours, on site 5 days per week
  • Contract: 1 year, extendable.
  • Start date: ASAP
