Role Purpose:

As part of Sibelco’s leadership team, the VP Projects will be responsible for delivering major capital projects, from concept to pre-feasibility, feasibility, execution and up to commissioning, on time, in budget and in line with specifications. The VP Projects will also oversee the entire project portfolio of the organisation functionally, to ensure governance and compliance for all capital projects.

With his/her team, the VP Projects needs to monitor Sibelco’s capital projects execution performance and needs to build a true culture of strong Project Management Excellence.

Responsibilities for the role will include but are not limited to:

Covering all areas of Strategy, People and Project Management, Compliance & Governance, as well as Business Automation, you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of future and existing projects are running efficiently and to the highest standards.

You will support and challenge Project Managers & Project Owners in the development of actionable Project Charters and execution plans.

You will nurture and empower project teams and promote a successful environment for each project. You will also bring structure, discipline and a strong conceptual approach to each business case.

You will develop policies, standards, core processes and evaluation principles for technical project management for the organisation.

You will implement cost effective business automation to simplify and improve the quality of tracking and reporting of capital expenditure in the business.

About you:

With an engineering background and at least 10 years managing medium sized to large capital projects of various complexity levels, you will also have a practical understanding of the industrial minerals industry.

You must have a proven track record in project – as well as people - management and control, managing diverse project teams remotely successfully delivering projects to standards, on time and within budget.

You must also have strong commercial competency in sourcing strategy, agreement structures, tender and market sourcing processes, as well as excellent negotiation skills and being proficient in managing contracts

Finally, you communicate and manage relationships very well.
