The Accounting Manager supervises up to two staff accountants. This position is hands-on addressing tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, monthly financial close and internal/external financial reporting, internal and external audit preparation, and the support of budget, forecast and tax compliance activities. The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting, based in Belgium.Responsibilities

• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close of Belgium operations under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in Belgium (BGAAP). This requires all transactions are timely and properly recorded within defined deadlines as well as all balance sheet acount reconciliations are completed during the month end close process.
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the dual financial reporting and general ledger structure (IFRS and BGAAP) which requires a strong understanding of the existing policies and procedures, the ERP system (SAP) and related subledger functionality and procedures.
• Ensure an accurate and timely reporting of monthly financial information to the group accounting and finance teams (based in the US and Singapore). Contribute to the development of new reports and analyses as needed.
• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Work closely with global accounting, financial reporting and finance managers to ensure accurate and timely group consolidation, reporting, audits, reviews, filings, etc.
• Assist with preparation of the corporate income tax returns, VAT and other local taxes as deemed appropriate
• Assist in the maintenance, development, maintenance, integration and implementation of new and more efficient procedures and system features to enhance the workflow of the team while maintaining a high level of accuracy and integrity
• Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
• Other duties may be assigned based on experience, skill set and business needs

QualificationsEducation and/or Experience:

• BA/BS in accounting
• 10+ years of experience working within the general ledger area and at least 3 years of prior supervisory experience. The experience must show growth within the accounting functional area through various roles.
• Experience working in a fast pace/high growth environment where they have shown an ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a given time.
• Experience in manufacturing, technology, project-based accounting a plus

Functional/Technical Skills

• Required:
• Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle process including purchasing, accounts payable, order management, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel skills
• Experience with a large automated accounting /Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP
• Expertise in BGAAP. Strong knowledge of IFRS.
• Good to Have:
• Project accounting
• Multi-currency accounting
• Mix of audit and corporate accounting
