Job Description

As Application Architect, your role will be to provide assistance in implementing new innovative visual interactive products architecture as well as their development and corrective / evolutionary maintenance.

The nature of your tasks will be associated with the design, implementation and integration of these visualizations into Liferay by using Java, Javascript, HTML 5, d3.js and web services and the technology of the dissemination platform and its reference databases.

Main activities :
  • Analyzing of the integration of the different building blocks for innovative interactive data visualization products and implementing an adapted architecture
  • Design and development of the component architecture and building blocks of visual interactive products
  • Identifying ways to improve the existing visualization tools architecture and the related content procedures in Liferay and apart from that
  • Definition and integration of technological components within the website
  • Integration with the website
  • Production of technical architecture documentation in English
  • Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting of digital visual products
  • Execution of test programs
  • Frequent coordination tasks with the Data Centre responsible for hosting the dissemination infrastructure
  • Participating in meetings with other Commission services
Requirements

Specific expertise in Liferay, Java, HTML 5 / JavaScript / CSS and web services.

All documentation must be written in English. Meetings and communications are carried on in English and/or French.

In order to effectively deal with the tasks, it is highly desirable to have experience with the different technologies, programming languages and support tools used in the dissemination environment (Liferay, SQL, Windows/Unix/Linux operating systems, Java, XML, HTML 5 / JavaScript / CSS, JSON, git, Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, bamboo)).
