AECOM provide a comprehensive spectrum of ecological services for projects that range in size and complexity from small single-species surveys to large infrastructure projects or strategic development plans.

Our experience in helping organisations account for the value of their natural capital demonstrates significant opportunities to form partnerships. Today we’re seeing growing interest not only from the private sector and national governments, but also at a local level among non-governmental organisations (NGOs), national parks, community groups and local governments.

AECOM Belgium is seeking to hire a Biodiversity Specialist to be based in Leuven or Ghent. The Biodiversity Specialist will deliver end-to-end environmental consultancy and advisory services to both internal and external clients to a high level of technical quality and to programme and budget.

Key duties include:
+ Identification of species and development and implementation of biodiversity management plans.

+ Biodiversity assessments of terrestrial habitats.

+ Develop, integrate and implement management systems programs and undertake management systems audits;

+ Performing market research in the Benelux and help to further develop our biodiversity services.

+ Deliver projects or under the guidance of Project Manager(s).

+ Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and central regulations to ensure compliance.

+ Actively support team for development and submission of proposals.

+ Able to travel to project locations within the country and region.

+ Assisting with research projects which will involve reviewing scientific data, and disseminating the information to the project team.

Minimum Requirements

+ Master of Science Degree in Ecology/Environmental Sciences/Forestry/Biology or related subject.

+ At least 2 years of professional experience in biodiversity conservation and management work.

+ Fluency in Dutch and English with strong oral and written communication skills.

+ Strong digital affinity (new developments, satellite data, etc).

+ Highly developed conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving ability.

+ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with

+ people in a multi-cultural, multi-interest, multi-ethnic environment.

+ Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task under limited supervision.

+ The candidate should have a valid driver license for a car.

+ Confidence with working in a team.

+ Strong commitment to AECOM’s health and safety culture.
