Business Development Manager

European Tech Recruit are working closely with an exciting photonics company, based in Ghent, who are looking for a talented Business Development Managerto join their team.

In this role you will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and accelerating the sales of their cutting-edge photonics solutions. You will lead business development strategies and execute sales initiatives aimed at achieving significant growth.

Responsibilities as Business Development Manager:

  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation to negotiation and closing deals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with both current and potential clients through regular communication and ongoing support.
  • Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities, form strategic partnerships, and open new sales channels within the photonics industry.
  • Conduct market research to stay abreast of trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities.
  • Maintain a well-organized and up-to-date customer database.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, overseeing pre-sales, negotiations, and post-sales support.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align business development and sales efforts with overall company goals.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on market activity, sales performance, and potential growth opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in sales or business development, ideally within the photonics, optics, electronics, or high-tech sectors.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

Desirable experience:

  • Proficiency in Dutch, French, or German.
  • Background in physics, optics, or electronic engineering.
  • Experience with CRM systems and market analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of European markets, including established customer networks or insights.
  • A passion for technology and innovation, particularly in photonics or related fields.
