Category Buyer Specialties
The challenge:
The Category Buyer Specialties is responsible for defining and implementing strategies for the specific Category scope, potentially working together with the involvement of the Category buyers covering specific country scopes. The Category Buyer Specialties will be responsible for a dedicated geographical scope with potential for scope extension after discussion with Category Manager. He/She will be responsible to manage the collaboration with the stakeholders and other internal business partners such as GPO, negotiation of projects, defining category strategy, supplier relationship management, implementing contracts for specific categories ensuring benefits in service levels, quality, price, etc.
The role:
Category Strategy:
- Define & execute the European Category Strategy and Category roadmap;
- Provide information for global/cross-zone sourcing streams and implement global and zone contracts;
- Manage supplier relationship and develop category Supplier Relationship Management (SRM);
- Collaborate with functional budget owners and work closely with the Category Manager, the Global Procurement Office and other relevant stakeholders;
- Maximize value for the Company through each initiative;
- Monitor Category and contracts performance, price variance and take appropriate corrective actions when needed;
- Participate in the Category budgeting process
Sourcing Process:
- Identify internal needs/requirements
- Explore market and engage suppliers
- Run negotiations
- Develop business award scenarios and final recommendation
- Review, sign and ensure implementation of negotiated contracts
- Resolve outstanding contract issues and claims
- Consolidate contracts locally as well as across countries
- Assure timely contract renewal and manage/plan contract expiration dates
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Challenge existing ways of working in order to improve procurement results and efficiency, delivering procurement targets
- Understand and follow global and zone governance – policies and procedures. Suggest improvement opportunities;
- Drive proper/transparent contracting/purchasing methods;
- Identify, initiate and co-manage value engineering efforts, innovation projects with internal teams and external organizations;
- Support any procurement specific project (supplier portal, excellence program, etc.)
Qualifications
Who we’re looking for:
- 3 years of relevant procurement working experience
- University Degree or equivalent or adequate experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Hands-on procurement / category management experience
- Strategic mindset
- Basic knowledge of finance and accounting
- Communicating effectively by conveying information and ideas in English, in a clear, meaningful, and timely manner, providing information to ensure understanding; solicit inputs and provide open candid conversations
- Developing collaborative relationships for the purpose of accomplishing work objectives; developing relationships with other individuals by listening, sharing ideas, and appreciating others’ efforts
- Fluent in English. French is a plus
- Ability to conceptualize business impact focused analytics
- Stakeholder management experience
- Understanding of sourcing and analytics tools such as Ariba, Emptoris, SAP MM/SRM, advanced MS Excel, MS Access, Database tools (SQL etc)
- Basic knowledge on using e-sourcing tools
