Partnering with the oil and gas industry as major feedstock buyer, the Borealis Hydrocarbon & Energy (HC&E) BU in Mechelen provides innovative and quality chemicals and operates several steam crackers as well as a propane hydrogenation plant. We are selling and supplying olefins and other hydrocarbons in Europe to various customers and to our polyolefin plants. We also source and supply the energy (natural gas, electricity, steam, etc.) as utility to all plants in EU as well as natural gas feedstock for the Fertilizer and Melamine plants. The supply chain central team of the business unit HC&E is for the planning, scheduling and administrative activities related to olefins or feedstock physical flows.

We are currently looking for a highly engaged and energetic candidate who takes on the position of Central Planning & Logistics Lead for our Business Unit Hydrocarbons & Energy based in Mechelen (Belgium).
Your job as a Business Unit Central Planning & Logistics Lead in Borealis
As a Central Planner and Logistics Lead, you lead a small team of highly professional logistics coordinators, responsible for planning and scheduling of gas and chemical shipments, pipeline operations and administrative activities related to the buying and selling of petrochemical products. You take the responsibility and support your team for the smooth and cost optimal logistics execution of commercial deals and contracts, you overlook the overall European stock position of our cracker feedstocks and products, and you play a key role in the interface with our Polyolefins Business Unit.

It is your role to:
* Coordinate and execute the S&OP process via the follow up of supply/demand balances for 0 to18 months planning horizons for feedstocks and cracker products, as well as renewable feedstocks and products.
* Act as key interface to the Polyolefins Polyolefins organisation: Manage the Polyolefins monthly nomination process , agree and monitor monthly offtake nominations and propose appropriate measures to balance demand and supply on European wide and site-specific level.
* Supports the logistics coordinators with day-to-day decision making process and encourage teammembers for continuous improvement of cost competitiveness
* Lead the S&OP meeting schedule for the different time horizons, driving short-and mid-term scenario development and support logistics and commercial decision making process
* Monitor and challenge the optimisation of all material flow activities for the central logistics team, in order to maximise the utilisation of the logistics assets at the lowest cost in line with the BU optimisation outcome
* Take responsibity for the monitoring and reporting of KPI to measure team performance related to logistics costs (terminal costs, demurrage, analyse results)
About you
You have a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Logistics/ Economy/Business/Engineering) and 5+ years of relevant work experience. You have what it takes to schedule and plan activities and enjoy working with numbers. Together with the team, you contribute to achieving excellent results. You demonstrate excellent communication and networking skills, which help you to develop robust and successful relationships with your internal and external stakeholders. You demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethics and multi-cultural awareness. In addition, you are stress-resistant and adapt easily to a fast moving, challenging environment. Finally, you should be fluent in both written and spoken English.
