What will you do for us?

The role of the Commodity Buyer metals and packaging, located at PSS headquarters in Europe, is to define and execute regional commodity strategies in line with the global business and commodity strategies. You will work in close cooperation with the global commodity manager packaging and the global commodity manager metals. By taking the lead for these commodities for Europe and in case of metals also Mexico, you are responsible for creating and developing excellent relationships and establishing strong partnerships with key suppliers that must help the realization of sustainable savings and reduction of total landed cost.

You will ensure supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, …) and continuous improvement on a regional level, both for new projects and during series production. You will actively collaborate with other global Purchasing functions in a matrix organization and take regional commodity matters in a cross-functional context. Your role is key in the realization of localization strategies at PSS, aiming to increase the robustness of our supply chain, and to achieve our sustainability targets.

What will be your main areas of accountability?

• Purchasing Strategy

o You will develop, deploy, and implement the regional purchasing strategy for metals and packaging, supporting the global strategy of the said commodities to minimize BOM costs, maximize supply chain efficiency, reduce the carbon footprint and minimize risks

o Your contribution to global purchasing strategy & policy and process optimization is crucial

o We expect you to optimize the supply base with adequate knowledge of the commodities in terms of industry, market trends and competitor benchmarking for the specified regions. This way we can meet the requirements of continuous performance improvement and business growth

• Supplier Management

o you can ensure the optimal supply base for present and future requirements for PSS in alignment with other departments

o You like to define and implement supply base improvement plans for assigned scope

o You can make sure there is a regular follow-up of local supplier’s performance in order to remain competitive.

o You are able to develop alliances with key technology providers and partner organizations, in a commercial, preferred or partnership framework, in order to leverage mutual benefits

• Negotiations

o It is your second nature to organize, prepare and lead various negotiations with suppliers

o You can easily manage compliance of legal contracts GPTC/NDA/COC/LON and support toward SM (Supplier Manual) by suppliers

• Budget

o You plan, prepare and implement the annual budget and savings for the said commodities

o You ensure transparency by data and controls, as well as regular KPI and status reporting towards management

What can you bring to us?

• Expertise/Skills:

o good commercial, technical and supply chain understanding (industry, market, manufacturing technology, capacity, cost) of commodities metal & packaging

o 5+ years working experience in strategic purchasing and/or Project management in a global company, solid knowledge of supplier management

o Proven track record in production material purchasing for Consumer High Tech or Automotive environments

o Knowledge of SAP is a plus

• Academic/Professional Qualification:

o Business management or commercial background is needed for the job

o Technical background (Engineering, Industrial) is an asset, Master degree preferred

• Language Skills:

o Excellent proficiency in English

o Other languages are a big + (Eastern Europe and/or Spanish)
