The Business Development Director has a critical role within TRIUM, leading all clinical research business development opportunities and sales activities with the aim to build long-term client relationships and overall growth of the company. He/she interacts in a transparent and pro-active manner with all applicable stakeholders, both outside and inside the QbD Group.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develops and leads business development and sales strategies to grow the clinical research business
- Represents clinical research business development and sales within the larger sales team of the QbD group
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of all QbD Group services for appropriate cross-sell opportunities and collaborates with peers in the QbD group to streamline processes, develop common business strategies and nurture common clients.
- Identifies prospects and implements new client relationships
- Maintains and expands existing client relationships through active Key Account Management
- Schedules, conducts and/or attends meetings with clients and vendors to highlight the key expertise of TRIUM and the larger QbD Group as a Knowledge & Excellence Organization within the clinical landscape.
- Establishes and manages a pipeline of opportunities
- Manages the sales process for leads generated
- Leads bid defense meetings with clients
- Sets and achieves sales targets
- Represents customer needs to internal functional departments and follow up on the proposal and contract development process
- Identifies and attends appropriate conferences and trade shows to create business opportunities
- Keeps details on opportunities and client contact details up to date in the company CRM system
- Communicates timely and effectively during entire process with all stakeholders involved
- Leads a team of business development and sales manager(s)
- Leads development of new processes for scoping, pricing and pitching studies to improve quality of proposals and efficiency of proposed solutions.
- Identifies, supports and implements other process improvement initiatives
- Be one of THE advocates for TRIUM
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Life Sciences, or equivalent by experience
- At least 5 years of work experience with business development, sales, project management in a clinical research-clinical operations field such as a CRO organization or similar environment is a must
- Knowledge of the medical device field is a strong plus
- Strategic selling experience is an asset
- Genuine interest and experience in building & maintaining long-term client relationships

- Strong listener & sensitive to cultural differences
- Strong communication skills, both verbally as written
- Dynamic personality with positive mindset, willing to go the extra mile and getting things done
- Ability to prepare and interpret budgets
- Problem-solving and pragmatic approach, using tact & diplomacy
- Strong sense of urgency with ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities/deadlines
- Mature and discrete, applying full confidentiality at all times, both inside and outside the company
- Ability to work independently and as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Open to potential travel on a national and international level
- Fluent in English - Dutch and/or French is an asset
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to use Outlook, the Internet and Linkedin
