Job Purpose
- As a senior member of the retail finance team, the Head of Retail FP&A is responsible for working closely with the Retail Group Finance Director, the Retail Finance Network and the Head of Retail to optimise the accuracy of the Group’s forecasting and reporting.
- You will be expected to participate and represent the FP&A network with the retail business unit, supporting and occasionally driving strategic projects. Preparing and ensuring that data and analytics are used to bring the right analytics and ensure the digital readiness of finance.
- The role is expected to provide clear, timely and accurate financial analysis covering the whole business unit, giving insight regarding the results and forecasts to the Retail Leadership Team (RLT) and the leadership of BS EMIA, to support operational and strategic decision-making. In addition, the position contains ownership of the month end close process, including responsibility for a wide range of financial controls.
- You are expected to lead, motivate and develop the Retail FP&A function and influence the wider global finance team to focus on using performance metrics to drive the business forward .
- The role would suit someone who is keen to develop a well-rounded understanding of the whole business, who is able to think and communicate clearly, you should possesses a strong understanding of governance & controls as well as having a commercial focus.
Reporting & Forecasting
- Ownership of all aspects of performance reporting and forecasting for BSEU Retail Group, including P&L (with gross margin variances), Cash, Balance Sheet and Capital. Responsible for developing a stable set of management accounts for the RLT and delivering management information packs to BS EMIA FP&A. Build relationships with other stakeholders such as sales teams, procurement and shared services to understand the wider business.
- Building the Retail P&L by segment including different categories (tyres, services, solutions) for the actual, budget and forecast.
- Responsible for delivery and central coordination of the long range and annual operating plans. Drives for continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy and methodology and seeks opportunities to drive sustainable improvements.
- Lead the cash flow forecasting and budgeting process, developing it to both refine the process and improve accuracy of forecasting. Lead delivery against our cash targets through partnership with the key stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
- Ownership of reporting and understanding around OPEX costs within the business unit, continuously driving for improved understanding of our G&A spend and forecast accuracy, working closely with Finance partners and business stakeholders to instill a cost-conscious mindset.
- Identify and lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and accuracy of reporting and forecasting and drive business performance. Be an active contributor in broader Finance change and development initiatives both within BS Retail and within BS EMIA FP&A Processes and tools.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels of a business, including senior stakeholders
- Previous FP&A experience in a large company/group with multiple sites
- Understanding of consolidation and acquisition accounting
- Strong commercial acumen and a demonstrated ability to use information, experience and judgement to drive results
- Highly analytical with an eye for detail
- Previous experience in either delivering continuous improvements and efficiencies through the adoption of new tools and/or ways of working
- Able to apply logic and problem solving to complex Finance business problems.
- Knowledge of the key issues and challenges facing CFOs in the Retail sector.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality of outcomes.
- Ensure a positive team mentality, treating colleagues with respect and creating an inclusive culture.
- Knowledge of French is considered a plus
- Ability to balance communication of headline messages supported by detailed analysis.
