For a customer offering SaaS in Hasselt, I am searching for a freelance System Engineer to help maintain and optimise their IT infrastructure. You will ensure the stability, performance, and security of their systems, enabling the organization to deliver its services effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based servers and virtualization environments using VMware
  • Manage and optimize AWS resources, including EC2 instances, S3 buckets, and other AWS services to ensure scalability, cost-efficiency, and security
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Docker containers, ensuring they run efficiently and securely
  • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address performance and security issues within the system
  • Enforce security best practices, perform regular security assessments, and ensure systems are patched and up to date to protect against vulnerabilities
  • Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity
  • Script and automate routine tasks and system configurations to improve operational efficiency
  • Create and update system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and policies

Profile

  • Strong experience as a System Engineer or a similar function
  • Strong focus on Linux, VMware, AWS, and Docker technologies
  • Strong knowledge of network and security best practices
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python) are a bonus
  • AWS certifications and experience in infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like Terraform are a plus

DURATION: 12 Months

CONTRACT: Freelance

LOCATION: Hasselt

ONSITE POLICY: 1 Day Per Week

HOURS PER WEEK: 40

LANGUAGES: English and Dutch

INTERVIEW PROCESS: 1 Stage
