Global Product Lead – Flu

The role will preferably be based at Wavre, Belgium but can be based at other locations on a case-by-case basis.

With great exposure to the end-to- end value chain of the Flu vaccine the Global Product Leader - Flu position has the global accountability for developing and driving the execution of the manufacturing and supply strategy for flu vaccines and pandemic readiness.

He/she acts as the single point of contact (SPOC) between the Global Industrial Operations (GIO) and the Vaccines Development Teams & Vaccine Commercial Teams (VDT/VCT) which are the GSK Vaccines teams accountable for the successful launch and continued marketing of GSK’ s vaccines.

He/she leads the GIO Product Leadership teams (GPLT) which is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the end-to-end manufacturing and supply activities for the flu vaccines and pandemic readiness.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and drive the execution of the manufacturing and supply strategy for a portfolio of vaccines in line with the business ambition and GIO’s network design strategy.
  • Define a manufacturing & supply strategy that supports the long-term brand ambition, is cost effective and maximizes the utilization of the existing GSK assets.
  • Maintain a 10-yr capacity plan that reflects the long-range demand forecast for each vaccine in the portfolio.
  • Assess future capacity requirements to support business growth, make recommendation on the strategy to achieve them (including investment/divestment and potential partnership responses)
  • Translate the approved strategy in manageable projects and operational roadmaps and drive execution against objectives and deadlines.
  • Acts as the product leader in GIO and as a liaison between GIO and the Vaccines Development Teams & Vaccine Commercialization teams (VDT/VCT) which are the GSK Vaccines teams accountable for the successful launch and continued marketing of GSK’ s vaccines.
  • Act as the single point of contact in GIO for all other departments (Commercial, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Finance, Medical, Business Development, Legal, etc) for product specific matters.
  • Accountable for the leadership of two cross-functional global matrix teams (GIO Product Leadership team - GPLT)
  • Each GPLT is composed of senior representatives of all functions involved in the manufacturing, supply and life cycle management of the vaccines in the given portfolio: Site VPs/Directors, Global Supply Chain Director, Technical Life Cycle Management Director, Global Regulatory Affair Director, Global Product Quality Lead, Global Commercial Lead and Vaccine Finance Lead.

In this role we need someone with excellent engagement and influencing skills. Combined with credibility and knowledge of manufacturing and/or supply and control of human vaccines you will drive the product forward. Thriving on getting the best out of others you will succeed through a strong narrative, effective use of insights and purposeful delivery, managing your message and finding business solutions, not barriers. You must be an insightful and agile in your approach, there may be instances where the focus may change in line with a business requirement, being able to adapt in this environment will be advantages in this role.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • University Degree preferable would be in Scientific, Economic, Finance, Engineering
  • Considerable experience in either manufacturing and/or supply and control human vaccines
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage with and challenge
  • senior level business partners
  • Good understanding of the vaccine development, production and supply constraints and environment (including competition)
  • Ability to help people to see the big picture with complementary perspectives across different disciplines
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Preferred qualifications and skills:

  • Masters level qualification/MBA
  • Broad financial business orientated experience
  • Analytical expertise (step-based approach) capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization across geographies and cultures, multi-cultural awareness
  • Ability to drive change
  • Ability to provide strategic advice as well as operational solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills to oversee the coordination of projects
