• On the one hand, the position focuses on selection and development of yeasts to deliver solutions for applications in the field. (2) On the other hand, the position focuses on developing fermentation processes and technologies to improve quality, performance, and sustainability for applications in the field.
  

• Lead and deliver R&D / Front-End-Innovation (FEI) projects (lab, pilot, and industrial scale) in GITEC and for the different AB InBev Zones according to the company priorities.
• Lead and deliver implementation projects in the different AB InBev Zones and provide the required technical support and solutions to ensure speed to market.
• Coordinate and manage projects by building project plans, project budgets, generating and prioritizing new ideas, developing solutions, balancing resources utilization, managing cost and timing.
• Work with internal stakeholders and external partners, to manage R&D programs, and to scout for new technologies that have applications in this field.
• Manage projects with external partners, and prospect opportunities to fund and develop new partnerships with external institutes.
• Play a key role in the Yeast & Fermentation Knowledge Center and Global Network, by connecting key stakeholders, developing knowledge & new technologies, promoting synergies among the AB InBev Zones and supporting Global and Zone Innovation and Supply teams.
• Drive the continuous development of advanced technologies to select and develop new yeasts.
• Drive the continuous development of fermentation and analytical capabilities at lab, pilot, and industrial scale.
• Develop, share, and manage knowledge/expertise to find and promote innovative solutions allowing increase of AB InBev profitability by maximizing quality, process efficiency and sustainability, and consumers preference.
  

• You have a PhD, or equivalent R&D experience, in the field of applied science disciplines such as Industrial Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Metabolic Engineering, Fermentation Technology, Brewing, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Food Chemistry, Food Technology.
• Complementary Technical Brewing education is an asset
  

• At least 2-3 years of experience as a PhD in an academic or industrial R&D environment, in the field of yeast breeding or yeast development.
• Experience and skills in advanced yeast breeding and development technologies, molecular biology, and evolutionary engineering.
• Experience and skills in fermentation technology.
• Industry experience in a brewing, bioengineering or biotechnology field, working with yeast-based fermentation systems, is an asset.
• Experience and skills in project management & planning.
• Complementary expertise/knowledge in analytical chemistry is an asset.
• Experience in development and implementation of lab and pilot capabilities and methods.
• Experience in writing projects for external funding is an asset.
  

• Proven leadership skills and capable of working effectively through cross-functional and international project teams.
• Ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate.
• Manage multiple Front-End-Innovation (FEI) and Implementation projects simultaneously in an environment with high complexity, uncertainty, and challenging timeframes.
• Work with a high degree of self-coordination and independence.
• Strong team player with good social skills and high energy level, target-oriented with respect for quality and timing.
• Having industry, technology, consumer, and functional knowledge.
• Ability to deal with Intellectual Property (IP) matters.
• Operate across different cultural and geographical realities, with flexibility to undertake short assignments abroad.
• Fluency in English (written / spoken), other language skills constitute an additional asset.
